Achik-Tash is a high-mountain area in the Alay Valley below the northern side of Lenin Peak. For most travellers it is not a standalone resort but the seasonal staging ground for Onion Meadow, Travellers Pass, Tulpar-Kul and the mountaineering camps below the seven-thousander. Safety
The main risks at Achik-Tash are altitude, fast-changing weather, remoteness, border-zone controls and mountain-road access. Do not travel without the original permit and passport, check the Sary-Mogol road and camp conditions before departure, and carry food, water, cash and fuel buffers. Routes above base camp require acclimatisation, mountain experience and a clear evacuation plan; climbing and glacier terrain should be attempted only with suitable skills or a guide.
