Day 1. Bishkek → Ala-Archa

  • Bishkek — Kyrgyzstan's main travel base: airport access, transport hubs, car rental, cafes and quick departures toward Chuy Valley gorges and the Issyk-Kul road.
  • Ala-Archa National Park — Kyrgyzstan's most accessible high mountains: an alpine gorge with glaciers and a waterfall just forty minutes from downtown Bishkek.

Then follow the A365 to the Red Bridge and walk Konorchek's dry riverbed; the first sandstone "castles" and back take 2–3 hours. The canyon is shadeless in summer, so carry 2–3 litres of water each. The drive back to Bishkek is about two hours.
