Kegeti lies on the northern slope of the Kyrgyz Range, roughly two hours southeast of Bishkek. It is a hiking and day-trip area: marshrutkas run from Bishkek's East Bus Station toward Kegety village, then you ask the driver to drop you near the waterfall or the start of the Kel-Tor Lake route. The easiest visit is a short stop at the waterfall. Safety
The short waterfall stop is much easier than the Kel-Tor Lake hike and far easier than the pass road. Do not hike to the lake without water, warm layers and enough time to return. The upper pass road is damaged in places, exposed to rockfall and avalanches, and is impassable in winter.
