Issyk-Ata sits southeast of Bishkek in the foothills of the Kyrgyz Range. Its practical centre is the balneological sanatorium around mineral hot springs at about 1,775 m. Safety
The road is reachable by ordinary car and marshrutka, but allow up to two hours through villages. Asphalt works were reported on the main road, and a mudflow closure was recorded on the Krasnaya Rechka — Issyk-Ata resort — Karagai-Bulak road, so check conditions after heavy rain and in winter. Stones near the waterfalls can be slippery. The hot springs are a treatment setting, so travellers with medical conditions should confirm bathing rules locally.
