No 4x4 needed

You do not need a 4x4 to see a serious slice of Kyrgyzstan: every place in this collection is reachable by a standard passenger car, on sealed roads or short easy gravel to the main sight. Ala-Archa, Alamedin, Issyk-Ata and Burana have asphalt the whole way; in Semyonovka Gorge the paved road runs fifteen kilometres into the mountains, and at Jeti-Oguz the pavement ends right at the sanatorium below the Seven Bulls cliffs. This is the core promise of independent travel here: a regular rental car covers real mountains, painted canyons and Silk Road history. Fair warnings still apply — the dirt approaches to Skazka Canyon and the Konorchek trailhead get rougher after rain, and pushing past the main stops (beyond the Jeti-Oguz sanatorium, deeper into Semyonovka) needs a current local road check. In the south, Sulaiman-Too and Uzgen add history on ordinary city asphalt.
