November is the gap between seasons and the quietest month on the calendar: snow has settled on the heights, but the lifts are not yet turning; the high country is shut and the valleys sit bare. What works is the indoor-and-thermal circuit — bazaars, museums, southern teahouses and hot springs that feel best precisely when the air outside hurts. The upside is real solitude at the year's lowest prices. The downsides are equally plain: short days, the start of Bishkek's smog season, and scenery caught between golden autumn and white winter. Given generous snowfall, Karakol can open its lifts in the final days of the month — treat that as a bonus, never as a plan.
